‘Wonders’ in Pompeii, Rita Dalla Chiesa criticizes Alberto Angela

The episode aired last night was seen by over three and a half million viewers

ROME – Despite the enormous appreciation from the public, the episode of ‘Meraviglie’ aired last night, dedicated to Pompeii, ended up being the center of a small controversy. It was triggered by Rita Della Chiesa, who in a post on Twitter, published before the broadcast, addressed the host Alberto Angela directly. The Forza Italia deputy did not agree with the choice of topic, given the delicate period for the Campania population and the continuous tremors in the Flegrei camps.

“Sorry, Alberto Angela, I adore you. But do you think it’s time to send your Pompeii documentary tomorrow evening, with all the wonder of documentaries you’ve shot in recent years?”. It wasn’t Angela who responded, but the many users who appreciated the documentary. “We are talking about new archaeological discoveries, not about the disaster. However, even if it were, I think talking about the problem is never a bad thing”, “What would the problem be???” and again “I don’t think the organization of the schedules falls within the responsibilities/tasks of Alberto Angela”. Dalla Chiesa also responded to a user who invited her not to write “every bullshit that comes to mind”. “You’re right – he wrote – but I’ve been at home for several days with air conditioning pneumonia. I read you a lot and you keep me company. But the language should be kinder”.

RAI, SERGIO AND ROSSI THANK ALBERTO ANGELA

“The one aired last night on Rai 1 with ‘Pompeii, the new discoveries’ by Alberto Angela is an exceptional TV page which has aroused extraordinary interest, as officialdom can certify of listening data”. Thus the Rai CEO Roberto Sergio and the General Director Giampaolo Rossi commented on the episode of ‘Meraviglie’ broadcast last night which – according to the first audience figures – exceeded three and a half million viewers with a share of over 20 percent.
“Alberto Angela – Sergio and Rossi continue – was able to ‘dare’ a totally new and compelling narrative style, with a long sequence shot, which followed him step by step to bring to light the Pompeii of the past and its stories, and to meet those who – inside the Archaeological Park – work every day to discover the still hidden jewels of the city and deliver them to the future. For this, for his passion, for his being the unmistakable face of the Public Service, our thanks go to him, which we extend to Rai Cultura, to the Rai TV Production Center of Naples and to all those who made this precious program possible” .
