What will the weather be like today? Here's what to expect from North to South

North

Extensive low cloud cover in Liguria with possible short rains; in the Alps and pre-Alps partial cloud cover rapidly increasing during the morning and with associated local rain or short showers which definitively ceased from late afternoon/evening except for local persistence in the evening over Valle d’Aosta and bordering Piedmont areas; partially to very cloudy in the remaining Piedmont and clear or slightly cloudy in the rest of the north with some more significant accumulations during the central hours.

Centre

Generally clear skies except for local thickening in the extreme north-western Tuscan sector where brief rains will be possible.

South

Stable weather and generally clear skies.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures decreasing on Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, major islands and central-southern peninsula, more marked on Sicily and southern peninsular, increasing on Valle d’Aosta, Trentino-Alto Adige, Lombard Alps and Piedmontese, stationary in the rest of the north; maximums decreasing on the eastern Sardinian coasts, Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Valle d’Aosta, northern Piedmont and the Lombard Alps, stationary on southern Campania and Molise and increasing on the rest of Italy, also marked on Emilia-Romagna and the Apennines central.

Twenty

Weak northerners in the south and Sicily and on the central Adriatic, with reinforcements on Puglia and the Ionian areas of Calabria and Sicily; weak over the rest of the country, from the western quadrants over the remaining central peninsula, from the southern ones over Liguria and on average of variable direction over the remaining regions, with strengthening breezes along the coasts in the afternoon
