‘Water Objective’, Francesco Vincenzi (Anbi): “Water basins and reservoirs are fundamental for the country”

The fifth edition of the competition was won by Pamela Doretti and Franco Tulli

ROME – The winning works of the national photographic competition ‘Obiettivo Acqua’, organized by Coldiretti, Anbi (National Association of Consortia for the management and protection of land and water) were awarded today in Rome irrigation) and Fondazione Univerde, to document man’s relationship with fresh water, as well as the landscapes shaped by it.

Present at the event, among others, Luca De Carlo, president of the Senate Agriculture Commission, Ettore Prandini, president of Coldiretti, Francesco Vincenzi, president of Anbi, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, president of the Univerde Foundation, Nazario Palmieri, general commander of the Carabinieri Tutela Forestale and Parks, Aldo Mattia, member of the Chamber’s Environment and Territory Commission.

The fifth edition of the competition was won, for the color category, by Pamela Doretti with the shot ‘Splash’ and, for the black and white category, by Franco Tulli with the shot ‘L’Impero dell’ Waterfall’.

The ‘Obiettivo Acqua’ photography competition aims to be a part of an indispensable path to pass on moments of history, but above all to hope for a more aware future.

“Italy suffers floods and droughts – states Prandini – and we always need to invest in terms of foresight. Unfortunately our country has been characterized, in past decades, by looking at the next day’s needs, without planning, in the medium and long term, those that were investments that could provide substantial responses to the needs of businesses.

The program linked to the accumulation basins becomes a possibility, in terms of retaining more rainwater, today we retain only 11% and we should reach 50%. Having water available means guaranteeing quantity and quality of the agri-food chain”.

For President Vincenzi “we still have enormous quantities of water falling on our territory with calamitous events and unfortunately we do not have the infrastructure to retain it. Our project, together with Coldiretti, of the ‘reservoir plan’ has the aim of increasing the retention capacity”.
