Wandering cows on the A4 in Vicenza. Zaia: “A truck with livestock overturned”

Highway blocked, Montebello junction closed. Two truck drivers injured and an animal hit. Animal rights activists rejoice: "Race towards freedom"

VENICE – Cows, calves and perhaps bulls running along the highway. Police officers and even veterinarians rushed to the scene to try to recover the fleeing animals. It happened in the early morning, on theA4, between Montecchio Maggiore and Vicenza Ovest, where a truck loaded with livestock overturned, blocking traffic. The Montebello junction has been closed. There are also two injured truck drivers, and livestock along the road. Luca Zaia, president of Veneto, reports everything on his Facebook profile, adding that there are also veterinary staff on site.

On social media there are numerous testimonies from motorists who, unfortunately for them, found themselves in the place at the wrong time. There are those who clarify that the rollover occurred at Torri di Quartesolo and that the queues on the A4 are several kilometers long, both towards Venice and towards Milan. There are those who report that the animals are bulls and also post a photo of one of them who died on the asphalt, perhaps due to an accident. Many animal rights activists take the opportunity to ask to stop the “journeys of death” or “journeys to hell” of livestock, headed for slaughterhouses, and speak of a “race towards freedom”. Finally, from Animalliberaction the appeal not to finance “the transport of slaves”.
