ROME – Mourning in the world of volleyball: volleyball player Valentina Sergi has died from a sudden illness that struck her while she was showering. The 33-year-old from Salento who played for Astra Volley di Presicce-Acquarica (women’s Serie C), was in her home in Torre San Giovanni (Lecce) with her partner yesterday morning when she felt ill. The man immediately called for help, but the resuscitation attempts of the 118 paramedics who arrived on the scene were in vain. “It was hard not to love you. Beautiful, sunny.. your smile was contagious.. and we want to remember you like this.. we will miss you! Bye Vale”, his company wrote on Facebook.

On social media, in addition to messages of condolence, there were also some posts from anti-vax who speculate on his sudden death related to the anti-Covid vaccine that the athlete had strongly recommended during the pandemic. “Poor girl is truly sorry that she believed Pfizer and its henchmen”, is one of the many comments.
