ROME – An Austrian Airlines flight was hit by a violent hail storm, which seriously damaged the plane. The violent hailstorm destroyed the nose of the Airbus A320 and shattered the windshield of the cockpit. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, on thePalma de Mallorca-Vienna route.

The flight to Vienna left around 4pm on Sunday 9 June from Palma de Mallorca. Shortly before landing, the plane went through a violent hail storm that damaged the nose and broke the windshield of the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot managed to safely land the plane at the destination airport. All passengers on the flight were unharmed.
