TURIN – “On 26 April we sent a certified e-mail to the National Council of the Order of Psychologists (CNOP) and to all the regional orders to request the disbursement, for the Palestinian and Italian-Palestinian population here in Italy, of the same services that were provided following the war in UkraineWe also collected signatures, which to date has more than 3,600 signatures, and we asked the CNOP and the regional orders for recognition of the genocide. in Gaza”. With these words, a young psychologist and psychotherapist in training who is part of the ‘Psychology for Palestine’ project, raising her hand from the audience, addressed the president of the CNOP, David Lazzari, while it was underway a meeting with Fedez on the topic of mental health, as part of the Turin Book Fair.
“We know that psychology is a collective issue, even our code of ethics says that we have a responsibility towards society and society is not only made up of people of Italian origin – continued the young psychologist – and for us it is very important that this responsibility is also implemented towards what is happening in the world. In today’s meeting we talk about adolescent malaise and that of young adults in Italy and we see this malaise very often in the streets when these young people try to make themselves heard in front of an adult generation that does not listen to them. In our opinion, it is important to assume responsibility towards boys and girls, as well as to take a position towards the social and political dynamics that are happening in the world because – he reiterated – at this moment we are witnessing a genocide”.

“I don’t know why but I didn’t know about this petition – Lazzari responded from the stage – The National Order has always sided with Ukraine, even when there were Ukrainian immigrants in Italy we moved as much as we could The theme of wars and crises, as well as that of the environmental crisis, are at the heart and in the heart of our profession which must help regardless of borders and ideological positions view – continued the president of CNOP – I will absolutely delve into the topic, I’m sorry that I didn’t know about this petition but we will discuss this and other inputs of this type and if we can do something we will do it, certainly from a cultural point of view and if it is possible even from the material one”.
Pressed by other young psychologists present in the audience who continued to ask why the Cnop “after seven months from the genocide it did not express itself while it did so for Ukraine”,
Lazzari he reiterated several times that “there is no prejudicial position of an ideological or political nature”.
“I don’t know if other professional orders have done things – continued the president – I feel today that our order is invested with a a role that we normally don’t have as a professional body, however – he said again – we did it for Ukraine because there were refugees in Italy, I don’t know if there are any Palestinians, it’s probable. There is no preclusion – he reiterated – if there is an issue we will perhaps address it together with other orders”. On Palestine “there is no position of the CNOP because it has never been consulted or asked about this issue “.
