ROME – Video war in the Chamber. The Transatlantic transforms into a large Var studio. After the brawl in the chamber, where the Northern League member Igor Iezzi threw more punches at the address of the M5S Leonardo Donno, the deputies of all sides have been gathered in small groups for almost an hour. The session is suspended and then the main activity is to gather around a cell phone to see and review the videos of the fight.
Angles are studied, films are enlarged, stopped and slowed down. In the centre-right the thesis is almost unanimous: “Donno tried to attack Calderoli with the Italian flag, the provocation was his”. Trancassini (FdI) shows everyone a video: “Iezzi doesn’t hit him at all. He falls to the ground by himself.” Massimo Bitonci (Lega) is certain: “It’s a simulation”. Among the oppositions, the version is different. “What does a League minister do, refuse an Italian flag?”. The Five Star Movement also studies images. Iezzi is seen hitting several times from top to bottom. Donno collapses to the ground after a while. “He was hit in the chest and stomach”, claims Conte’s party. For them, therefore, there is at least one other attacker.
According to the Five Star Movement, “the attack that occurred in the Chamber againstLeonardo Donno is a very serious and shameful fact. Our deputy only wanted to deliver an Italian flag to Minister Calderoli, when he was physically attacked by parliamentarians of the majority including the Northern League member Iezzi, being hit with punches and ending up on the ground. We ask for serious and immediate measures against this act of real squadrism perpetrated within the institutions which tarnishes our democracy and qualifies those who do it. has accomplished”.
