ROME – A passenger train and a freight train collided yesterday evening in Pardubice, about one hundred kilometers east of Prague, in Czechoslovakia. The news was spread on X by the Czechoslovak Police and also by Interior Minister Vit Rakusan, who went to the site of the accident together with Transport Minister Martin Kupka. According to what we understand, the collision head-on was a freight trainand a night express train, headed for the Ukrainian town of Chop, on which around 300 people were travelling /strong>. By midnight, 36 units of professional and volunteer firefighters arrived on site.

The causes of the accident are still to be ascertained. The Police explains that “a criminal proceeding has been initiated” on the hypothesis of public danger due to negligence.
