VIDEO | The Sangiuliano case breaks out in Rai, the booing of the minister during the Taormina Book Festival is censored

The Viale Mazzini company replies with a note: "The program is not an internal production, we will clarify"

ROME – Same event but two different versions. This is the final report of Gennaro Sangiuliano’s participation in the Taobuk – Taormina Book Festival. The event took place in Taormina from 20 to 24 June, and among the various guests also saw the participation of the Minister of Culture and the President of the Sicily Region, Renato Schifani. Once on stage, the two were greeted by boos and dissent from the audience. The interventions of the hosts Antonella Ferrara and Massimiliano Ossini were of no avail, as they tried to calm the protests. Yet, last night on TV, a completely different narrative was broadcast: there was no sign of the booing. The viewers could only hear applause. Same thing for the episode available on RaiPlay.

RAI: THE PROGRAM IS NOT AN INTERNAL PRODUCTION

“In reference to the alleged intervention on the sound effects during the speech of the Minister of Culture Sangiuliano in the images broadcast during “Taobuk – Taormina International Book Festival” – broadcast last night on Rai 1 – Rai specifies that the program does not it is an internal production, but it was provided by the Taormina Book Festival Association, which created it, taking care of every production aspect, without any involvement of Rai resources and personnel. The company will however ask for explanations to clarify what happened”. explained the Viale Mazzini company in a note.

FLORIDIA (M5S): USED FOR INTERNAL POLITICAL CLASH WITH A MAJORITY

“Giorgia Meloni’s majority is usingRai as a weapon of political conflict. The protagonist of the day is the League, which is asking to increase advertising on the public service by stepping on the toes of private TV stations and therefore by snapping Forza Italia to attention, which obviously sees as smoke and mirrors any proposal that could even hypothetically damage Mediaset, in reality the Northern League proposal does nothing but damage Rai itself, because increasing the advertising ceiling does not it automatically means increasing resources, given the gradual shift of investments to other platforms. But above all it is a proposal that damages the very concept of public service, reduced to a commercial service for citizens who are consumers and no longer users on the resources to be given to Rai, do so starting from an assumption which is also sanctioned by the European Regulation on media freedom: stable resources are needed to avoid subjecting Rai to the government of the day. A serious government would start from here. And perhaps, use that money for a quality service by rewarding those who really carry out the public service by generating good ratings. Not by hiring relatives or by giving space to programs useful for placing some ‘friends’, but which bring ratings of zero comma and make Italians increasingly distance themselves from Rai”. Thus the president of the Rai supervisory commission Barbara Floridia on her social channels.
