ROME – The night before the exams “is a miracle”. It has been for forty years, since that morning it came out “in one go” from the pen of Antonello Venditti . “In the end I found myself dazzled, shocked by what I had certainly written. But maybe not, who knows. Something that is inside me, that is above me”. The singer-songwriter talks about his masterpiece immediately before singing it, sitting at a piano arrived for the occasion in the Spadolini Room of the Roman College.
So full that the clerks of the Ministry of Culture are forced to bring more chairs. Filling it are the girls and boys who have come from the nearby Visconti High School to see him, a star who is certainly not of their generation. With minister Sangiuliano, Venditti puts on a little show. “I grew up with his songs, he doesn’t know it, but I’m a fan of his. Just think, just to listen to his songs once in Naples I went to the Festa dell’Unità, which I wouldn’t have done. never done”, says Sangiuliano, who adds: “There is a great future ahead. Viva Antonello Venditti”. And he closes: “Long live Italy whole and free.”
