"Families, elderly people, young couples": INPS with its 28 thousand employees is the largest social security institution in Europe. General director Valeria Vittimberga takes stock
ROME – “The INPS is a very important reality and with28,000 employees it is the largest social security institution in Europe, which collects assistance, social security and a series of benefits in favor of users and businesses, which is increasingly growing. It is an institution which, despite its size and the financial dimension that involves it, is not elephantine and this is our strong point”. This was claimed by Valeria Vittimberga, director of the INPS, speaking at the PA Forum at the debate “Legality and Public Value”. There are various topics covered, from denality to policies for young people, up to the recent innovations on the management of disabilities and policies for reintegration into work.
“The Institute is one of the cornerstones of the presence of the state for healthy and good work, with the correct remuneration and correct contributions. Insecurity lurks where there is illegal work, where the rules are not respected “, underlined the INPS Directorate, for whom “there is a very strong birth rate and the aging of the population. Demographic factors constitute a fundamental key to understanding society, they influence the fabric of businesses and have an impact on the market of work and on the sustainability of social security policies. Apart from this, an Italy that does not have children gives no room for hope in life. Now finally there are government policies that support those who want to have a family”, said Vittimberga, who has recalled measures such asthe single allowance which reached 6 million families, 10 million children and 18 billion in disbursement: “It is a very important tool for reducing inequalities. But it is not the only tool , there are also other measures such as paternity leave and other tax relief measures. Then there is free nursery starting from the second child. The aim is to help women to fully enter the job market and consider being parents as a social value and not an obstacle to their professional fulfillment”, said the INPS Director.
Vittimberga then recalled the importance of the new generations: “We need to get the excluded pockets of the population back to work. We have an impressive number of NEETs, almost two million, who neither work nor study.
Taking young people into our hands is one of our duties and we are committed to involving them”.
Then there are also the latest news regarding the management of the weakest part of society: “We will become the only actor in the recognition of civil disability, 3% of the population is an important number. Single management involves uniformity of medical and healthcare practices, the institute will pool its skills to avoid injustices in the area”.
Vittimberga then claimed the need for the INPS to remain close to the citizens: “The presence on the territory cannot be touched, the importance and effectiveness cannot be questioned. On the territory we have the precious work of our intermediaries, the productive fabric of the companies. The joke that is always made is ‘Parish, Carabinieri and INPS‘. We are always present in people’s lives, we are one of the hubs key to the success of the Pnrr”. Which was a great opportunity to “channel resources on important projects”.
