VIDEO | The Bocchino-Cacciari clash on TV: after the “fuck…” the philosopher abandons the connection

ROME – Clash over the results of the European elections last night, during the episode of Accordi&Disaccordi broadcast on Nove. During the talk show, Italo Bocchino and Massimo Cacciari were the protagonists of a back-and-forth that ended with a ‘fuck you…’ from the philosopher and the interruption of the connection. What infuriated the former mayor of Venice were the words of the former PDL parliamentarian, on the high percentage of abstentionism that characterized the last elections. A crucial and highly worrying issue for Cacciari, which Bocchino instead interpreted almost as a positive signal: “Abstentionism, as several political scientists maintain, is not necessarily negative in absolute terms. And I’ll explain why. Abstentionism sometimes also comes from a certain serenity on the part of the voter in large mature democracies. Those who vote do not fear the return of a dictatorship or the black shirts. Ergo they have faith in a solid democracy we are not interested in the electoral appointment”.

The response from Cacciari was immediate and, visibly irritated by what he had heard, he replied: “But how can you say this rubbish, but sorry, have you ever talked to people on the street? Someone told you that it’s wrong to vote because we live in a mature democracy?”. Bocchino: “Every day I talk to people on the street.” At that point the philosopher, very annoyed, abandoned the connection after a loud “fuck…”.
