VIDEO | Rome, stabbing in the Quarticciolo: a 22-year-old arrested

The facts date back to April 25th. The attack was believed to be linked to drug dealing

ROME – On the delegation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rome, the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Roma Casilina have executed a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Rome, on request from the local Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rome, against a 22-year-old Roman man, with a criminal record, seriously suspected of the crime of attempted aggravated murder in relation to the stabbing of a 19-year-old Tunisian citizen which occurred on the evening of last 25 April, within the lots of the Quarticciolo district, in viale Palmiro Togliatti, an area on the south-eastern outskirts of the capital.

The provision arises from the immediate investigative activities conducted by the Carabinieri of the Rome Tor Tre Teste Stationand the Operational Unit of the Rome Casilina Company, directed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rome, serious crimes against assets and narcotics, following the criminal episode, following which the victim, struck by a stab wound to the abdomen, was taken to the Casilino Polyclinic in serious condition, undergoing surgery emergency which allowed, after 3 days of hospitalization in intensive care, to avoid the danger to life.

The victim’s testimony, collected in hospital two days after the episode, supported by targeted investigative investigations carried out by the Carabinieri, allowed us to have a serious circumstantial framework against the suspect and establish that the motive for the affair can be linked to disputes relating to the management of drug dealing in the Quarticciolo neighbourhood. The Carabinieri’s investigations have made it possible to collect important circumstantial elements, which are being further investigated, relating to the criminal dynamics connected to drug crimes in the Quarticciolo neighbourhood. It should be noted that the proceeding is in the preliminary investigation phase and therefore the suspect must be considered innocent until a possible final sentence.
