VIDEO | Paper boats in the fountains against deaths in the Mediterranean: “Stop the massacre”

ROME – This morning giant paper boats appeared in some important fountains in Rome and in the Tiber: the action, carried out by the activists of SOS Mediterranee Italia , a note from the organization reports, aims to raise awareness of shipwrecks and deaths of migrant people at sea.

The statement denounces “a policy that is often absent, impotent or even hostile”. In photos released this morning you can see paper boats, even in the Trevi fountain or in the Tiber in front of Castel Sant’Angelo, with the writing “don’t stand by and watch“.

SOS Mediterranee underlines: “The time has come for Europe to take responsibility for addressing the issue of the most lethal migratory route in the world, where thousands of innocent people die every year.” According to the organization, “criminalizing and hindering those who try to save lives is unacceptable and offensive”. Today at 11.30 a meeting is scheduled in Largo di Torre Argentina organized by SOS Mediterranee. The organization highlights: “More than 10 thousand citizens they have signed our petitionin which we ask the institutions to stop this massacre of women, children and men, and intervene with choral and shared action; we will see if from the next legislature we will be able to get their (and our) voice to Brussels”.
