The agreement was signed by the national president of CNA Estetiste, Perlita Vallasciani, and the president of APEO, Dr. Carolina Redaelli

ROME – Improve the specialized training of beauty workers to ensure high-quality support for people undergoing oncology therapy. This is the objective of the partnership agreement signed today in Rome between the CNA (National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium Enterprises) and APEO (Professional Association of Oncological Aesthetics) which, through the involvement of the Ecipa Foundation , allows the CNA structures present in the area to provide SEO (Oncological Aesthetics Specialist) specialization courses through their training bodies.

To sign the agreement, at the national headquarters of the CNA, the national president of CNA Estetiste, Perlita Vallasciani, and the president of APEO, Dr. Carolina Redaelli, who have formalized their collaboration to achieve institutional and legal recognition of the figure of the Beautician Specialist in Oncological Aesthetics.

The aesthetic activity, meanwhile, in recent years has been recording a “notable” growth in demand for aesthetic services dedicated to subjects in fragile conditions, generally undergoing health treatments, including oncological treatments.

“The execution of aesthetic treatments on these subjects – underlined Vallasciani – requires specific attention and knowledge, such as to guarantee the customer a quality of service that takes into account his particular condition. Precisely from here, the need arises to offer support to aesthetic operators and adequate protection to citizens through the definition of a regulatory framework, which provides for high training standards and makes the relationship with the scientific medical world easier and more effective for a profitable integration between aesthetic well-being and care”.

For Dr. Redaelli, this collaboration represents a “decisive step towards the institutional recognition of the figure of the Specialist in Oncological Aesthetics. The agreement will allow us to join forces to promote targeted activities, improve specialist training and guarantee high-quality support to cancer patients.

Through the training bodies of the CNA system, we will be able to offer advanced specialization paths, further enhancing our professionalism and responding effectively to the needs of those undertaking the oncology path. The presence of the certified Oncological Aesthetic Specialist will therefore be increasingly widespread throughout Italy, allowing us to reach a greater number of facilities and patients. Remembering our common goal which is to improve the quality of life of patients undergoing oncology therapy”.

The signing of this agreement represents an important stage of a journey that began in 2022 with the approval of the UNI reference practice (UNI/PdR 130:2022), which defines the knowledge and skill requirements of the Specialist in Oncological Aesthetics, which works at the service of people undergoing oncological therapies in order to improve their quality of life.

The Specialist in Oncological Aesthetics is, therefore, a professional in the wellness sector who operates according to the requirements and limits established by law no. 1 of 1990 and which exclusively carries out the aesthetic treatments required by sector regulations. And it is precisely with the aim of offering a training course that “fully” responds to the requirements defined in the UNI Practice and is in “absolute harmony” with the sector standards that the partnership agreement was signed today.

“The agreement – underlined Giuseppe Vivace, director of the Ecipa Foundation – could represent an important reference for training institutions and for the growth of increasingly necessary knowledge and skills in a sector such as aesthetics which is experiencing very important progress and which has always had a high propensity for training”.

The next objective, concluded Vallasciani and Redaelli, will be to “continue, jointly with UNI and the other organizations present at the working table, the transformation of the UNI Practice into a Technical Standard, with a view to guaranteeing, as done so far, an effective integration of skills, roles and responsibilities of the parties involved, offering sector operators cutting-edge training courses and promoting the best possible protection for citizens”
