ROME – A dedicated gallery could be made about Claudio Lotito’s naps. The President of Lazio is an optimizer of rest: as soon as he has the chance, or the context becomes particularly soporific, Lotito closes his eyes and snores. It happened again in the Senate, where Lotito was engaged in the dual role of senator of Forza Italia and owner of a Serie A club audited together with his other colleagues on the economic situation of football. Only this time, Aurelio De Laurentiis is sitting next to him. The two form a pyrotechnic couple, with a still unexplored comic potential.
So it happens that while his Verona colleague, Maurizio Setti, is speaking, Lotito falls asleep. De Laurentiis notices and wakes him up. Lotito jumps: “What do you want? What happened?”. Then he denies, moves his hand as if to say “but who, me? But when ever, I was just concentrating on Setti’s words” (gestures are a terribly performative language at times). He even yawns, but Lotito is a professional at narcolepsy, and covers everything with a strategic cough.
