ROME – Arrested, taken to the police station and beaten by police officers. This is what a 25-year-old student from Spoleto, Matteo Falcinell, experienced in Miami. The facts date back to the night between 24 and 25 February last but the news has only now been released by the will of the family, after the young man accepted the program ordered by the judge to dismiss the four charges of charges for resisting a public official, resisting arrest without violence and trespassing.
The images recorded by the officers’ body cams were released by the National Newspaper and reconstruct the dynamics of what happened. Scenes of particular violence, which began before arriving at the police offices, on the street. The young man asks the officers to return his cell phones but the policemen ask him to leave.

The dynamic changes when Matteo approaches an agent’s uniform, touching the name tag. At that point the officers throw him to the ground and put him in handcuffs.

Taken to the police station, the images portray the excited moments in which he is slammed to the ground and subjected to violence, amid the desperate screams of Matteo Falcinelli. “I was just trying to ask for my rights!”; “I have my rights!”.
