VIDEO | Italian beaches up for auction? “They put businesses in crisis”: Forza Italia and the Bolkestein directive

Bruno Molea, Forza Italia candidate for the European elections, talks about the risks associated with the liberalization of concessions

ROME – “The Bolkestein problem exists for the activities of the Adriatic coastand not only and it is a problem that must be framed and managed, becauseauctions bring into crisis a sector with entrepreneurs who have invested a lotand today are sleeping soundly”. This was underlined by Bruno Molea, Forza Italia candidate for the European elections in the North East constituency, interviewed by the director of the Dire agency.

If on the one hand, he observes, “the concessions cannot be for life” there is a “fundamental problem which is how to move as Italy to protect the rights of our entrepreneurs At the beginning of the year – recalls Molea – the government spent a lot of effort, responding to a request from beach resorts and established an inter-ministerial commission to map our coastsand understand whether are fully covered by concessions or if there is space to use.” As the Fi candidate explains, “even if the work of this commission is not completed, it emerges that there is still a good percentage of free space and this would determine the inapplicability of the directive”. With respect to the mayors who are already proceeding with the auctions, Molea specifies that “this happens due to a national law. The Municipalities, fearing that the judiciary might intervene, are putting forward tenders which, however, should be European and nowhere is written part of how they should be packaged, so a sea of appeals could open up.” “We need to clarify this.” Finally, bringing his experience as a manager in the sports field, Molea underlines that sporting events“move thousands of people with important economic movements in the territories. Therefore sports tourism is at the service of the hotel economy, in particular of the coasts which in low season periods have the possibility of respite thanks to these events”.

“I FIGHT FOR INSTANCES, TERRITORIES AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES”

“When I was elected to Parliament, from the next day I began to work in the reference area, in my constituency, as I believe it is correct to do out of respect for those who have placed their trust in me. Thinking that it cannot be the same in Europe it is wrong, because the European dimension today is of extreme importance and Italy is a piece of Europe”. “Being in Europe is therefore important – Molea continues – the role of an MEP is to understand the needs of his own nation and ensure that while Parliament legislates, those needs are satisfied, both for that which concerns businesses, environmental policies, family policies and above all women One of the cornerstones of Forza Italia So equal opportunities between men and women at work, the possibility for women to choose what job to do. above all choosing when to have a child regardless of work”.
