Over 47 million eligible people from north to south will be able to choose the reference list
ROME – Tomorrow, Saturday 8 June, at 3pm polling stations will open throughout Italy for the European elections, which will end at 11pm and will also reopen on Sunday 9th from 7am to 11pm. Over 47 million voters right from north to souththey will be able to choose the reference list for the next European Parliament: 76 seats out of 720 that our country is entitled to, divided into five regional constituencies, as we will explain later.
YOU CAN CROSS THE SYMBOL AND WRITE THE NAMES OF THE CANDIDATES
As the Ministry of the Interior informs, voters must go to vote in possession of a valid identity document and electoral card. In the event of loss or exhaustion of space for stamping on the card, it can also be requested on voting days at the electoral office of the municipality where the voter is registered. However, in this electoral round it is very important to understand first of all how to vote. The voter has two options: he can decide to place an a minimum of one to a maximum of three.
SPLIT VOTING IS NOT ALLOWED
Attention: split voting is not permitted, i.e. the chosen candidate or candidates must belong to the crossed-out list. You can indicate the candidate’s name and surname, or just the surname (or even the nickname, if explicitly indicated in the electoral list). In any case, we must keep in mind the rule of gender balance, which starts from two to three preferences. In the case of two choices or three, the name of a man and a woman must be written – in no particular order – because writing the names of two male candidates or two female candidates involves the cancellation of the second preference. In the case of three preferences, there must be at least one choice of gender different from the other two (two men and a woman, or two women and a man). If the gender is the same for all three names, the second and third preferences will be canceled.
