VIDEO | Died at 41 years old falling from the zipline, what happened in Valtellina

The adrenaline-filled experience of 'flying' hanging from an aerial cable in Valtellina turned into a tragedy for Ghizlane Moutahir, who fell into the void and died when she fell into the woods under the Fly Emotion facility

BOLOGNA – The causes of what happened are still to be reconstructed: what is certain is thatGhizlane Moutahir, 41 years old, resident in the province of Lecco, yesterday fell from the ‘Fly’ zipline Emotion‘ of Bema, in Valtellina, and made a tragic flightfalling into the woods below. She died in the fall. The system is designed to experience a high-adrenaline adventure: it is an aero rope that makes you ‘fly’, up to a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, along a cable one and a half kilometers long: the people are harnessed and tied so that they are lying down and, arms open, they let themselves fall and are carried by the rope over the valley. The woods below are at a distance of 230 meters at the highest point. You can go down alone, or in pairs, one tied on top of the other. Ghizalne was alone. Butsomething went wrong on his ‘journey’. The harness remained attached to the rope and the 41-year-old woman fell when she was not far from the arrival station. The tragedy occurred before the eyes of her family, who had accompanied her to Fly Emotion.

What exactly happened is unknown. Local newspapers say there is a video of the woman’s tragic flight. And it is clear there is, since the system has a photo point (almost obligatory, with such a unique experience), that is, a point where the people who are ‘flying’ are immortalized by a shot. The facility’s Instagram profile is in fact full of souvenir photos and videos. Several witnesses say they saw Ghizlane go down in a standing position, and not lying down as she should be. The woman may also have had an illness and because of this she had assumed a wrong position, which led to the harness coming off. Another fatal hypothesis is an error in the positioning of the woman and the hooks when going down.
