The event was organized on the initiative of Senator Ignazio Zullo, member of the tenth Commission on Social Affairs, Health, Public and Private Work

ROME – Reflect on the ethical challenges that artificial intelligence poses to our society and how these can be directed towards a more humanistic and inclusive development.

This is the central theme of the conference ‘Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: is the Digital Society moving towards a New Humanism?’, which was held today in the ‘Fallen of Nassirya’ room in the Senate.

The event was organized on the initiative of Senator Ignazio Zullo, member of the tenth Commission on Social Affairs, Health, Public and Private Work, Social Security and promoter of the Autoimmune Diseases Intergroup.

The event was attended by Antonino Giannone, author of the book ‘Digital Humanism’, Fabio Righi, Secretary of State of San Marino and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Craftsmanship, Ubaldo Livolsi, CEO of Livolsi&Partners, Raimondo Grassi, president of the Holding Tea Aerospace, and Guido Perboli, full professor of the Polytechnic of Turin and president of the Technical Committee of the National Agency for Artificial Intelligence.

During the meeting it was highlighted how fundamental it is that technological progress is accompanied by a profound reflection on its social impacts and how innovations can be guided in such a way that they favor a renewed and responsible humanism.

“We must understand how to use technological innovation – explains Senator Zullo – because it can be exploited for good or evil. This is why the Meloni government is putting in place an action plan for artificial intelligence (AI ), which will be the topic of the G7 which will take place in Puglia.

All countries must adhere to the regulation of AI, so that it is not used for opportunistic or fraudulent purposes”.

For Professor Giannone, the major critical issues of AI “are linked to chatgpt which erodes human thought, because the more we humanize the intelligent machine, the more we dehumanize man.

In doing so, the new generations risk no longer knowing how to write a theme or develop a thought”.
The Secretary of State of San Marino is convinced that “we must concentrate on rediscovering the values that man can bring at the center of the use of new technologies which only in this way will it become a tool for the benefit of man”.

Professor Perboli is of the same opinion, for whom AI must support society, must not replace people and must help society progress, without leaving anyone behind”.
