ROME – Upon Chico Forti’s arrival in Italy, ‘Il Fatto Quotidiano’ ran the headline “Welcome back, murderer” on its front page. And if director Marco Travaglio wanted to hit the mark, he succeeded very well. The controversy from social media moved to television programs which ‘blamed’ Travaglio for having used double standards on the matter: the news of the announcement by the then Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, which announced Forti’s extradition in 2020 only had a short article on page 14 of the newspaper and not such a strong front page headline. The director of Il Fatto himself responds in the program ‘Accordi e disaccordi‘ by Luca Sommi broadcast on the Nove who (ironic) says: “I must confess, it is not right to call murderers murderers: Meloni has We did a great job welcoming him, we also needed the fanfare and the tricolor arrows. I regret the ugly headline we made.”

“Everyone is naturally free to doubt his guilt, like all circumstantial trials, but for American justice Chico Forti is a murderer and he also has the misfortune of having a ‘Chico Forti’ in Italy fan club’ formed by the Zoo of 105 and by Le Iene, who are better than the Court of Cassation in murder cases: when they say that someone is innocent it is further proof that he is guilty Foreign Minister Di Maio announces an agreement with the Americans to extradite Chico Forti and make him serve the rest of his sentence in Italy. Not only does Fatto Quotidiano not put the news on the front page, but it is the newspaper that gives him the least amount of space: a tiny paragraph on page 14. It is anonymous because it is taken from news agencies, it reports Di Maio’s words and a brief summary of the story. Then it is picked up by all our social networks naturally, among dozens of other brief news of the day and she died there. Then Trump falls, Biden arrives, Forti’s extradition gets stuck, the Draghi and Meloni governments resume negotiations and Forti finally arrives in Italy as a reward for loyalty to Meloni: the Americans they return it to him in time for the European elections. But, to return to Italy, Forti had to do what he had always refused to do before, that is, accept the sentence. And the Court of Appeal of Trento had to recognize the American ruling, which it did on April 17 at the request of Forti’s own lawyers. From that moment Forti has been a murderer not only for American justice, but also for Italian justice”.
“Meloni does two things that have never been seen – says Travaglio – not only in Italy but in a state of law. First, it sends to pick up Forti with a Falcon 2000 from military air force, those used for the great authorities and we pay for the murderer’s flight. A joke worth 134 thousand euros. Second, the Prime Minister welcomes Forti at the airport like a Pope, a boss of State, a national hero. Photos, smiles, exclusive interviews on Tg1 and Tg5, in which Forti makes an electoral advert à la Meloni and in which he says he is innocent, even if he has just acknowledged his conviction< /strong>”.
That of Meloni is a “global fool. All the newspapers pretend not to notice, except one, Il Fatto Quotidiano, which has the front page headline “Welcome murderer“. Open heaven, how dare we call a murderer a murderer. The Melonian human shields and Chico Forti’s ‘Zoo’ unleash all their troops on social media, on television, in the newspapers – Travaglio continues – Mediaset lynches Il Fatto in defense of Meloni and they all carry out frantic research on Google, because they say ‘do you want to see that those grillinos from Travaglio had beatified Di Maio, and therefore Forti, and now he has become guilty just because Meloni is there?’. Unfortunately, they are disappointed because I have never written a line on the case of Chico Forti, I have never given a damn, I have never been either guilty or innocent, because they have already passed the sentence the courts of Florida and now Italy, end of story. Whether Forti serves his sentence in America or in Italy changes nothing, as long as he serves a life sentence in Italy, because in Italy the life sentence is fake and in a couple of years Forti will be free and beautiful. But since they can’t find anything about me, they invent: they take that paragraph on page 14 on Di Maio’s announcement, they transform it into an editorial of mine, an innocentist one at that, they don’t even know how to read, because in that blurb there is no comment. There is only the news of Di Maio’s announcement and a brief summary of the Forti case and they can’t even distinguish between a minister who announces the extradition of a convicted felon and a prime minister who goes to welcome the murderer with full honors ”.
