ROME – A touching greeting from Massimo Bernardini, who yesterday 25 May, after almost twenty years, greeted the audience of ‘Tv Talk’. The host explained why he decided to leave Rai 3’s most popular Saturday programme: “It’s simple in the end, I’ll be 69 in July, I’ve been retired for two years, an old-age pension, but there are four reasonswhy I decided to give up”, he explained. “The first is that it is better to leave a job, a program, a beautiful adventure, with the wind at your back, when it is still solid, appreciated by the public and TvTalk is. The second is that I feel it is a duty for those of my family generation pass the hand to colleagues who are better, younger and therefore more capable than me of interpreting the present and Mia Ceran is one of these who may seem banal, but I have one family, above all I have a wife with whom I feel I have to share more time than I have done so far. And then there is the Gospel which in chapter 17 of Luke suggests something very wise: ‘Say: we are useless servants, we have done what we had to do. ‘I interpret it this way: that is, life is bigger than us and even bigger than our ambitions, even if they are the most fulfilling one can live.” During the greetings Bernardini also thanked Franco Di Mare.
The host then took his leave amid general emotion and after the ritual thanks he passed the baton to Mia Cèran.
