ROME – At the end of the episode of ‘Report’ broadcast last night on Rai 3, Sigfrido Ranucci remembered Franco Di Mare. A heartfelt memory, that of the host, who on behalf of the entire editorial staff wanted to thank, the colleague who passed away on May 17th due to a mesiothelioma.

“I personally, the Report editorial team, must say thank you to Franco. Me because I was appointed deputy director under his direction, but above all because we shared a period of information, perhaps the most difficult in the history of the company, the one under Covid, but also the one under the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine Franco was a correspondent, a free journalist, a free director who left us with a strong sense of indignation” .
Ranucci’s words were then transformed into a direct appeal to Rai, to revive a Di Mare project dedicated to investigative journalism: “He had an extraordinary project in mind. He had created a structure that ‘Report Labo’ had entrusted to me: a laboratory of young employed journalists who had a single purpose, that of working independently and remaining outside the logic of the parties, a form of journalism with respect for the only possible publisher, the public who pays the license fee. I hope that Rai, beyond the usual condolences, has the strength to take this project out of the drawers and carry it forward”.< /strong>
