Ukraine, Putin: “In Kharkiv we create a safety zone from Kiev’s raids”

The statements were released during a press conference in the city of Harbin

ROME – Moscow’s offensive in the Kharkiv sector, in north-eastern Ukraine, does not aim “at the moment” to conquer the city but to create “a security zone” that protect from Kiev’s bombings on Russian territory: President Vladimir Putin said this today, on a visit to China.
The statements were released during of a press conference in the city of Harbin.
“I had already said publicly that if this continued we would be forced to create a security zone,” Putin said. “That’s what we’re doing.”

In the evening, a few hours after the president’s statements, the Moscow news agency Novosti reported that air raid sirens sounded again in Belgorod, a Russian city near on the border with Ukraine and the Kharkiv region.
