Two Italians in the final at Roland Garros. Waiting for Sinner, Paolini and Errani

Bolelli and Vavassori at the forefront of Italian tennis in Paris. An Italian doubles player had not reached the final of the French Open since 1959

ROME – Two Italians in the final at Roland Garros. In two days we could count five. The Italian avant-garde at the Parisian Slam is the men’s doubles, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. In the semi-final they beat the number 2 seeded pair Bopanna-Ebden in three sets: 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.

Bolelli and Vavassori had lost against the same opponents in the final at the Australian Open, but had already taken revenge at the Foro Italico. This is a historic result for Italy – yet another of this tournament – because an Italian pair in the final in Paris had been missing since 1959, since Pietrangeli-Sirola. p>

Bolelli and Vavassori will take to the field for the title on Saturday. Meanwhile, another finalist could arrive already this afternoon, if Jasmine Paolini were to beat Mirra Andreeva. While waiting for Sinner against Alcaraz, and the women’s doubles team formed by Paolini and Sara Errani.
