Turetta on trial: “I was planning to kill Giulia since November 7th, I wrote the plan to calm myself down”

Turetta's interrogation for the murder of Giulia Cecchettin has begun in Venice. "That evening I hypothesized the plan, I thought of hurting her"

ROME – “That evening, writing that list, I hypothesized this plan, this thing, to spend some time together and hurt her.” Thus begins the interrogation of Filippo Turetta in the courtroom, before the prosecutor of Venice Andrea Petroni, on the murder of Giulia Cecchettin. The magistrates ask him about the list of November 7, the notes for the project that he would then complete on November 11.

“I was angry – Turetta explains in a low voice – I had so many thoughts, I felt resentful that we had argued again, that it was a really bad time, that I wanted to get back together and so… I don’t know… in a certain sense I was happy to write this list to vent, to imagine this list that reassured me, to think that things could change. It was as if I still didn’t have to define it, but I had jotted it down”.

“I started doing it on November 7 because I started to think, I had so many wrong thoughts. First I wrote it in one go, then I reread it and put in order those parts that I couldn’t have written in one go”.
