BOLOGNA – The car of a Milanese family who was returning from a dinghy trip in the Ligurian sea ended up in the sea from the quay of the tourist port in Lavagna, in the province of Genoa: the accident occurred on Saturday 8 June shortly after 5pm but the conditions of those involved do not appear to be improving. Inside the car there was an entire family, made up of mother, father and three brothers.
The most serious conditions are those of the youngest child, aged six, who was hospitalized at the Gaslini hospital in Genoa where he arrived by helicopter. The mother, however, was accompanied to the Lavagna hospital. Both remained under the water imprisoned in the cockpit for many minutes, before being freed by a diver who was present (by chance) at the port at the time of the accident. Both were in cardiac arrest. The other members of the family, the father and two children aged 16 (a girl) and 12 (a boy) managed to get out of the car first (which then sank) and are in less serious conditions : the two teenagers were nevertheless taken to Gaslini for observation and are being assisted by psychologists. The father, who has always remained conscious, is hospitalized in emergency medicine in Lavagna.
The dynamics of the accident are being examined by the investigators: the family was returning from a trip on some friends’ dinghy: during the maneuver on the quay of the tourist port, the car in reverse collided with a columnand tore it down. Then it would end up in the water.
