BOLOGNA – Tragedy in Aosta where a little girl died during the night at Beauregard hospital under the eyes of doctors who were unable to do anything to save her. Now the autopsy will establish what problem or pathology he had. The doctors, so far, have not been able to understand it and the regional health leaders cannot rest: “We must find an explanation“, says the health director of the Local Health Authority of the Aosta Valley to La Stampa, Mauro Occhi. “The whole department is in shock. It’s a tragedy for us“, he says again. A tragedy that has no explanation and is therefore even harder to accept: “The little girl entered the hospital with a low severity code: this situation isa big question mark“, says Occhi again. p>
Meanwhile, these are the facts for the first information that it was possible to reconstruct: the little girl had been taken to the pediatric emergency room for the first time in the night between Sunday and Monday because she was vomiting. She had been visited by the pediatrician on call, kept under observation and rehydrated, then discharged. the family then returned to the hospital on Monday afternoon because the situation was not improving, it was around 5pm. During this second visit the little girl underwent new checks, including a second blood gas, a swab and was subjected to hydrating therapy intravenously.
The situation then worsened exponentially while the little girl was in hospital, until she fell. An anesthesiologist and a resuscitator tried to resuscitate and resuscitate for a long time but there was nothing to be done.
“Now the technical reports will arrive from the doctors who intervened and then the autopsy will be carried out”, the head of Paediatrics, Paolo Serravalle, declares to the press: “We will only have answers after the autopsy, which was requested from us. We carried out a long and complete resuscitation, which unfortunately was in vain. The parents and grandparents were assisted by psychological support, already in the worsening phases and after the child’s death”.
