Tourism. The “Yellow-green” Rocca inaugurates in Sassofeltrio
Once the recent restyling has been completed, the viewing terrace of the Municipality of the province of Rimini will host the "Rocca Giallo Verde" event, to celebrate the 250 years of the Guardia di Finanza.
Enhanced the 360 degree panoramic point that ranges from the Adriatic coast to the Montefeltro mountains
SASSOFELTRIO – For its debut, the panoramic fortress of Sassofeltrio wears the “yellow green” uniform. Having concluded the recent restyling, as part of the GDP projects – Local integrated project ‘The paths of experience at the origins of Montefeltro’, on Saturday 4 May, the viewing terrace of the Municipality of the province of Rimini will host, as the inaugural event of its new course, the “Rocca Giallo Verde” event, to celebrate the 250 years of the Guardia di Finanza. The initiative, sponsored, among others, also by the Ministry of Defense, is organized in collaboration with the Gdf , by the Municipality of Sassofeltrio, by the National Faleristic Association and by the local sections of the National Association of Fighters and Veterans and by the National Army Aviation Association.
On the occasion of this celebration, there will therefore be the debut of the location which, with a renewed look, truly represents a flagship for the local community and beyond. In fact the redevelopment of the space surrounding the cliff – called the Rocca – which overlooks the village of Sassofeltrio, enhances what is a 360 degree panoramic point with a unique vision that ranges from the Adriatic coast to the Montefeltro hills , up to Mount Titano in the Republic of San Marino and the more distant Carpegna and Nerone mountains. In fact, the panoramic resting point today is finally equipped with new services: the pedestrian path of the terrace has been redeveloped and the staircase – which was made of wood and in poor condition – has been rebuilt in reinforced concrete, covered in terracotta, equipped with lights . Furthermore, the external lighting system, panoramic binoculars on the mezzanine floor of the building and a raised platform that acts as a stage were added.
The overall cost of the intervention was over 40,000 euros, of which 30,000 euros financed by the GDP and 13 thousand euros by the Municipality. In particular,the restyling is part of the Local Integrated Project ‘The paths of experience at the origins of Montefeltro’, implemented through Psr Marche funds, managed by Gal Montefeltro Sviluppo, and involves public-private interventions in seven municipalities strong>- Macerata Feltria, Mercatino Conca, Monte Grimano Terme, Montecopiolo, Monte Cerignone, Pietrarubbia and Sassofeltrio – for a total contribution of around 500,000 euros.
The Rocca is therefore ready to welcome visitors , enhanced by its recovery and, in addition, by the permanent “Small War Stories” museum, opened in 2023, which collects artefacts and memorabilia from world conflicts and peacekeeping missions, donated by families and fighters of the armed forces. Not only that, the Rocca Giallo Verde is the first of the events that the new space is preparing to host, including the traditional “Summer Rocca” organized in July by the local Pro Loco. The program for Saturday 4 May.
Saturday’s event opens at 4.30 pm with the inauguration of the exhibition hall of the permanent museum dedicated to the 250 years of the Gdf, then at 5.30 pm the speech of General Enrico Cecchi, former provincial commander of the Guard, is expected of Finance of Rimini, entitled “Financial Police and Legality”. At 6.30pm it is time for the presentation of medals of merit by the Kairos Aps association, at 7pm the wreath will be laid at the Anae monument. The day will end at 7.30pm with a charity dinner at the Savioli restaurant organized by Anae.
“Thanks also to the collaboration of the Municipalities participating in the Pil project – comments Fabio Medici, Mayor of Sassofeltrio– we managed to carry out the external renovation of what we Sassofeltre residents call the “Rocca”, a terrace on Montefeltro at 360 degrees which has exceptional visibility from the sea, to Mount Carpegna, from Mount Nerone to San Marino. To create it, we used GDP funds, around 30 thousand euros, and we spent 13 thousand as a Municipality, in this way. we managed to arrange the external staircase, we made the lighting possible and, in place of the old warehouse, a small stage was created for possible shows. Not only that, on the second floor of the building, the highest point of the Rocca, binoculars have been installed which can be used free of charge. In summary, the GDP has allowed us to beautify our Rocca. We will inaugurate it on May 4th, on the occasion of the “Rocca in giallo” event. to also commemorate the Guardia di Finanza which is celebrating its 250th year”.
As a corollary to this intervention at the Rocca, with the aim always aimed at encouraging open air tourism, “in these two years we have also created three CAI paths– adds the mayor – The first starts from the hamlet of Fratte, goes up to Sassofeltrio, and also stops at the Rocca, it is called the Love path, it is about 14 km. The second path is in Valle Sant’Anastasio and reaches up to 800 meters in height. Finally there is the “Gesso” route, where the quarries are located, for a total of 34 km. We invite those who want to visit us to follow them and, along the various paths, there are meeting points and also excellent restaurants for refreshment”.
