Tonali pardoned: the Italian disqualification also covers the English bets

The FA suspended him on probation for two months: he will pay a £20,000 fine

ROMA – Sandro Tonali will only be out of action for the 10 months of the Italian ban. The Premier has decided to pardon him for the bets that the Newcastle midfielder admitted to having made when he arrived in the Premier League. An independent regulatory commission of the English FA actually suspended him for two months, but… suspended the sentence. Tonali will pay a fine of 20,000 pounds.

As stated in a press release from the English club, “the period of disqualification is completely suspended for the entire duration of the season, meaning thatTonali will be available to return to competitive football at the end of the current ten-month sanction imposed by the Italian Football Federationon 27 October 2023. Provided that he does not commit any further breaches of the FA Betting Rules during the period of suspension, Sandro will not serve the two-month sanction”.
