Tomorrow the national demonstration “Let’s stop the wars”: the program of the squares

Activists and members of over 300 organizations will take to the streets in seven large Italian squares

ROME –Tomorrow, October 26, seven Italian squares will host the National Mobilization Day ‘Let’s Stop the Wars’, organized by Europe for Peace, the Italian Peace and Disarmament Network, the PerugiAssisi Foundation for the Culture of Peace, AssisiPaceGiusta and Sbilanciamoci.

“In an increasingly militarized international context marked by wars, suffering and political choices without real investment in diplomacy, it is essential to say together: ‘Enough with impunity. Enough with complicity. Enough with inaction'”, say the promoters of the initiative. The mobilization method chosen by the five Networks promoting the Daysees the organization of demonstrations throughout the country, “to gather and make clear how the great majority of Italian public opinion wants a change of direction of national and international institutions: the wars that devastate the world must be stopped, to begin building a time of possible Peace. Now”.

On Saturday, activists and members of the over 300 organizations that have given their support to the Day, together with many citizens concerned about the situations they are experiencing, will meet in the marches being prepared in Bari, Cagliari, Florence, Milan, Palermo, Rome and Turin. From morning to afternoon, thanks to the interventions planned in the squares and on the stages, the contents of the Platform calling for the Day will be relaunched. A real list of fundamental and crucial themes to build a perspective of Peace: from here we will start for daily campaigns and actions of the Italian civil society. “Our work is not limited to the Day of Mobilization, which is instead a sign and instrument of a broad convergence on proposals and requests for Peace, Disarmament and Nonviolence that the Italian and European institutions can no longer ignore. Because we can no longer ignore the too many deaths and the many destructions that characterize the dozens of wars (not only the most visible) underway in the world”, conclude the promoters of the Day.
