They invented the interview with Schumacher with the AI: condemned to compensate the family with 200,000 euros

Thus ends the story of the fake interview with Schumacher who published the German magazine "Die Aktuelle" in 2023

ROME – The fake interview with Michael Schumacher who published the German magazine “Die Aktuelle” in 2023 ended badly, very badly. The newspaper had invented the scoop of a conversation with the former F1 world champion who has been pouring in a vegetative state after a skiing accident, making the answers with artificial intelligence. Now the Landesarbeitsgericht, the Munich labor court, has condemned the publishing house of Die Aktuelle, Funke Mediengruppe, to compensate the Schumacher family with 200,000 euros.

A weekly magazine had splashed Schumacher on the front page with lots of photos and a big headline “Michael Schumacher, the first interview”. Inside were disturbing answers like “my life has completely changed since the accident. It was a horrible time for my wife, my children and the whole family. I was injured so badly that I remained in a kind of artificial coma for months, because otherwise my body wouldn’t have been able to deal with everything.”

Immediately after publication, Anne Hoffmann, the editor in chief who had created the article, was fired.
