The XVI edition of Pharmexpo opens in Naples on October 25th

The XVI edition of Pharmexpo, the largest pharmaceutical industry exhibition in Central and Southern Italy, is scheduled for October 25-27

NAPLES – From the service pharmacy to the managerial one, passing through the centrality of the community pharmacist and pharmacological research in oncology. And, again, therapeutic adherence and health protection in the service pharmacy 4.0, the centrality of the pharmacist in the national health system and the life of the scientific information provider at 360 degrees. These are some of the themes at the center of the XVI edition of Pharmexpo, the largest pharmaceutical industry fair in Central and Southern Italy, organized by Progecta in collaboration with the Order of Pharmacists and Federfarma. The event, scheduled from 25 to 27 October at the Mostra d’Oltremare in Naples, will be inaugurated on Friday 25 October, at 12 pm, in the Sala Capri, pavilion 5.

SANTAGADA: “COMPLEX AND CONTINUOUSLY EVOLVING CONTEXT”

“We will be at Pharmexpo – explainsVincenzo Santagada, Councillor for Health of the Municipality of Naples– to take stock of the relaunching healthcare, in an increasingly complex and constantly evolving context for the profession, between management and training innovations, enhancement of pharmaceutical assistance, sustainability, health protection and personal services. The relaunch of Italian healthcare and the modernization of the National Health System also pass through pharmacists and pharmacies, which have demonstrated their ability to guarantee an important professional, operational and logistical contribution to improve care, in a logic of streamlining care continuity and with a profitable process of taking charge of the person in their prevention and treatment path”.

“The congress – adds Santagada, president of the Order of Pharmacists of the province of Naples – will provide the opportunity to explore these issues through round tables between institutions, professionals, researchers and companies in the sector, which will help to outline integrated strategies that improve health protection and promote the relaunch of healthcare through targeted interventions and a synergic approach between operators. Pharmexpo is the home where all the components of the profession find a common ground. space”.

PETRONE: “SOUTH POINT OF REFERENCE FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR”

Pharmexpo will also discuss the concept of pharmacy as a ‘business’. In fact, the pharmacist has two souls, one scientific, the other commercial. This second dimension is even more important if we consider that nowadays  over 50% of sales in pharmacies concern products other than drugs.

“Having in Campania, in Naples, the re-proposal of events like Pharmexpo – declares Pierluigi  Petrone, president of Assoram, vice president of Farmindustria and of the Industrial Union of  Naples – is the demonstration of how our South is becoming a point of reference also in the pharmacy sector, just think that the province of Naples alone, in the first six months of 2024, generated a production value of 3.6 billion and is second in Italy. We will certainly have very important challenges from now on, especially in view of 2025: we do not yet know whether there will be a postponement of the entry into force of the new traceability system from February 8th. Pharmacies will have to think together with companies and all the stakeholders in the category in a unison to avoid that an opportunity can give rise to a problem. Italy, in fact, will also have to adapt to this European traceability system and I think that having opportunities like this, where several operators of the same supply chain can meet, certainly represents a great added value: it allows us to look at new opportunities jointly and with a single point of view”.

A specific focus, then, on prevention: the pharmacy is the dispensary of the medicine, but also a space where to do correct prevention. There are numerous active campaigns in Campania, with the Region ranking first in Italy for having completed the process for the Pharmacy of Services, and is preparing to inaugurate 167 new pharmacies in the coming months.

TRAMA: “NEW LOCATIONS AND PHARMACY OF SERVICES IN CAMPANIA”

“The Campania Region – states Ugo Trama, head of Drug Policy and Devices of the general management Campania Region Health – is particularly pleased that Pharmexpo is taking place again in Naples, a very important moment for the pharmacists’ category, an opportunity for discussion and reflection also with the exhibitors and with all those who live in the world of pharmaceuticals and healthcare in general: it is precisely from discussion that ideas for an increasingly high-performance system, tailored to the citizen, are born. At this moment Campania can boast of a very advanced stage of development of the Pharmacy of Services. Furthermore, after years of litigation, the Region has finally managed to assign a significant number of new pharmaceutical locations. Many new pharmacies are already open and we expect, by December, the end of the first call for tenders, that approximately 60-70% of the total locations will be open. This is a sign of guarantee of the services provided to citizens”.

Pharmexpo will also discuss the importance of nutrition, which will be at the center of numerous debates. Among these, one will be dedicated to the benefits of aprotein-free diet as an ethical opportunity for the pharmacist and for improving the quality of life of the nephropathic patient. Finally, special attention will be paid to the world ofgluten free.
