The tourist super-ticket is working, Venice has already grossed almost a million

VENICE – Just under a million euros in just over a week. The superticket to visit the historic center of Venice has already exceeded the revenue quota expected for the first three months of experimentation. It is a “success” for the Municipality, which receives (even the criticism). 723 thousand euros in just eight days. 144,645 have paid him so far. This is the data.

The 5 euro ticket is paid by those who visit Venice for the day, without staying overnight. And obviously commuters are excluded. It will remain in force until Sunday 5 May and every weekend between 11 May and 14 July, except the weekend of 2 June.

BUT NOT IN FLORENCE (FOR NOW)

the entrance ticket to the lagoon is linked to the issue of overtourism in the great Italian art cities. Introducing it in Florence, however, according to the former director of the Uffizi Eike Schmidt, now a mayoral candidate for the centre-right, is not possible: “They did a first experiment which didn’t go very well – she says – in Florence it would be practically impossible. We should use Chinese methods, but, in a democracy, it would be difficult“.
