MILAN – From Sicily to Trentino, 22 open-air theater shows to learn the stories of the protagonists who have climbed the highest peaks of the Bel Paese (and beyond), since the foundation of the Italian Alpine Club to date. In fact, the history of mountaineering takes place on the Sentiero Italia Cai which, with around 8,000 kilometres, is the longest hiking route in Europe and crosses the entire Apennine and Alpine ridge, from south to north of the country. The Italian Alpine Club organizes with the “(S)legati” theater company the project “Sentiero Italia – The mountain stage”, a tour theatrical in 11 stages along the Sicai, for as many regions of Italy, with a total of22 performances from June to October 2024.
FROM QUINTINO SELLA TO ANTONIA POZZI, THE STORIES OF THOSE WHO LOVED THE MOUNTAINS ON STAGE
The objective is to tell the story of the Association through the people who have marked its past and recent history. From Quintino Sella to Vitale Bramani, passing through Ninì Pietrasanta, Ettore Castiglioni, Guido Rossa strong>, Antonia Pozzi, Federica Mingolla and Matteo Della Bordella. Each stage, organized thanks to the involvement of the CAI sections, consists of a downstream show, in the theater or in the square chosen from the company’s repertoire and of an upstream performance , for refuges and outdoors: a theatrical tale about the lives of the great figures in the history of mountaineering.

THE FIRST APPOINTMENTS ON THE CALENDAR
We start, with the first confirmed dates, Friday 31 May in Rome with the performance of the show “Even i dream impossible” (Teatro Trastevere, 9pm), followed, on Saturday 1st June, by the theatrical story on the figure of Ettore Castiglioni during the excursion in the Livata – Cervara stage of Rome. The two-day event is organized by CAI Roma. We continue on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June in Friuli-Venezia Giulia with the show “Even impossible dreams” (Teatro Auditorium Comunale di Lestizza, 9pm) and with the story about the figure ofGuido Rossaat the culmination of the excursion along the Cai 635 path, in the stage that goes from the Difesa Julia refuge (Sella Nevea) to the Gilberti Soravito refuge.L The event is organized by the Società Alpina Friulana and is part of the collateral activities of the program to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the section. Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd it is the turn of theCAI sections of Bolzano, Laives and Appiano who organize “Another Everest” (Teatro delle Muse di Pintea di Laives< /strong>, 8.30 pm) and the story about Ninì Pietrasanta at the Oltradige Refuge. The first part of the tour closes with the stage organized by Cai Bergamo on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July with “Even impossible dreams” and the story of Antonia Pozzi at the Calvi Refuge, point arrival of stage D18S and departure of D19S. CAI PROJECT WITH (S)LEGATI, THE LEAD THEATER AND MOUNTAINEERING COMPANY

Founded in 2008 from the artistic union ofMattia Fabris andJacopo Bicocchi, professional actors and mountain enthusiasts, Compagnia (S)legati is the first theater and mountaineering company. Their name comes from the first show they put on, “Untied”, in which they staged the incredible story of Joe Simpson and Simon Yates told by Simpson himself “The suspended death”. Today their repertoire also includes: “Another Everest”, the true story of an emblematic climb to Mount Rainier (United States) by two friends who emerge completely changed, and “Even impossible dreams”, about the life of < strong>Fausto De Stefani, the second Italian after Messner to have climbed all 14 8000ers.
