“The Power of the Word” in Politics and Society: Expert Dialogues on Youtube

The series produced by the School on Complexity. What power do words have in love, in family, in friendship, in institutions, in business?

ROME – The series ‘The Power of the Word’, created by the School on Complexity, was presented in the context of the XV edition of the Festival of Diplomacy in Rome. ‘The Power of the Word’ is composed of ten video conversations conceived and conducted by Michele Gerace. Protagonists Silvia Andreoli, Edoardo Bellafiore, Luigi Cavanna, Paolo D’Achille, Vincenzo D’Adamo, Valeria Fossatelli (Francesca Giubelli), Francesco Iannello, Angela Padrone, Roberto Sgalla, Guido Stratta, Simona Tedesco and Giorgio Vallortigara.

“While there are images that seem to replace the word or leave little or nothing to the imagination – we read in a note – why do words continue to be so important for our way of being, feeling and knowing? What power do words have in love, in the family, in friendship, in institutions, in business, in interpersonal relationships and in more or less complex organizations? What impact do they have in politics, in society, in the concrete unfolding of community life both locally and internationally. After all, there is a word, sublime as it is magnificent and terrible, sacred, which is at the same time knowledge, creation, teaching and law through which our being human is expressed. It is a law that we can consider natural and it is called coexistence”.

To provide answers in these ten video conversations, all available on YouTube, Michele Gerace talks about it with special guests: ‘Text and context’ (with Paolo D’Achille, president of the Accademia della Crusca); ‘Science and consciousness’ (with Giorgio Vallortigara, neuroscientist, Mind/Brain Center of the University of Trento); ‘From chaos to cosmos’ (with Don Vincenzo D’Adamo, rector of the Church of Sant’Ignazio di Loyola); ‘Above the lines’ (with Angela Padrone, journalist and author of ‘Writing in the time of ChatGPT’ (Rubbettino); ‘Humanization’ (with Luigi Cavanna, oncologist, and Francesco Iannello, lawyer, author and director); ‘Alliance’ (with Silvia Andreoli, expert in fairy tales); ‘Impronte’ (with Simona Tedesco, director of Dove-Corriere della Sera); ‘Fantasia’ (with Roberto Sgalla, director of the Centro Studi Americani); ‘Kindness’ (with Edoardo Bellafiore, director of ContaminAction University, and Guido Stratta, manager and founder of the Accademia della Gentilezza); ‘Reality between real and virtual’ (with Valeria Fossatelli, co-creator of the virtual influencer Francesca Giubelli).
