The Pastry Chefs win Beijing Express. Social disappointment: “Incorrect and unpleasant”

For social media, the moral winners, however, are Italy and Argentina

ROME – The Pastry Chefs are the winners of Beijing Express 2024. Damiano and Massimiliano Carrara, always favorites to win, left behind them the Italia Argentina, Antonella Fiordelisi and Estefania Bernal, and the Amiche, Maddalena Corvaglia and Barbara Petrillo, who they were eliminated halfway through. After over 5000 kilometers traveled between Vietnam, Laos and Sri Lanka, this journey along the Dragon’s Route of the program conducted by Costantino Della Gherardesca and the special correspondent Fru dei Jackal has also ended.

The three couples still competing have traveled the last 119 km of the Dragon’s Route in Sri Lanka, starting from the Ranmasu Uyana archaeological park, passing through the famous Dambulla caves, to finally arrive at the majestic fortress of Sigiriya, a suggestive place that dominates the emerald green expanses of Sri Lanka and which was the backdrop to the most awaited moment of the season, the proclamation of the winning couple.

The Carrara brothers’ victory did not go down well on social media. The comments are almost all negative: “Arrogance, presumption, incorrectness wins! Congratulations Beijing for the worst edition ever. The only couple who understood little or nothing about the entire spiritual, cultural journey… dazzled only by the come first,” writes one user. And also: “The very first time where the ‘villains’ of an edition won. What a disappointment.” Another Internet user echoes this: “Worst edition in recent years, all the best couples eliminated very quickly and won by the worst competitors of all the editions I’ve seen. Obsessed with the race, incorrect, unpleasant and presumptuous, Above all, Damiano was unbearable, not only with his opponents but also in his way of dealing with his brother. Furthermore, the couples left against them never took advantage of the opportunities to penalize them or put them in difficulty, making everything even more obvious.”
