ROME – The 81-year-old woman hit by a stray bullet in Rome did not make it, while the car she was traveling in found herself at the center of a wild west scene . In fact, she died this morning, fatally from the bullet which, before hitting her, passed through the trunk of the Smart in which she was sitting on the passenger side, fatally wounding her in the back. However, the 64-year-old driver friend was unharmed.

The tragic episode occurred yesterday afternoon onvia Prenestina, on the outskirts of Rome: from the first reconstructions, it seems that, while the Smart was stopped at the intersection between via Prenestina and via della Riserva Nuova , shots were fired from a moving red car. The investigations are ongoing but the most popular hypothesis is that the 81-year-old was shot by mistake. Investigators are hunting for whoever was in the red car.
