The Night of the Museums is back, doors also open at Montecitorio and Palazzo Madama

Everything is ready for the 2024 edition of the European Night of Museums, which in Italy as in the rest of Europe will keep the doors open from 8pm to 2am on the night between 18 and 19 May

ROME – From 8pm until 2am (last entry at 1am), this evening, it will be possible to visit civic museums, universities, academies and villas for free (or at the symbolic cost of one euro) , with shows throughout the night: it isthe European Night of Museums 2024, which returns again this year throughout Italy at the same time as many other European countries. The event has been celebrated since 200 and was born with the aim of bringing the general public closer to cultural heritage.

The extraordinary openings will be enriched by events, shows and initiatives organized in collaboration with bodies and associations, to raise awareness of the Institutes’ activities and promote knowledge of the cultural heritage in a particularly evocative atmosphere.

In Rome, together with the Museums, some of the most prestigious places in the city will remain open such as the Borghese Gallery, Palazzo Barberiniand the Pantheon >, where guided tours are planned. Also open are the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, the National Roman Museum and the Colosseum Archaeological Park, with a visit to the Temple of Venus and the Museum of the Roman Forum .

On the occasion of the Night of Museums 2024, a special edition of Montecitorio open doors is scheduled: at 8pm there will be a concert by the Carabinieri Band and then a musical performance by young people talents of the Rome Opera Theater. The Senate of the Republic also joins the initiative: Palazzo Madama opens its doors to the public from 8pm to midnight for guided tours.
