NAPLES – The vessel that, on Sunday, would have hit the kayak in which was Cristina Frazzica, a 31-year-old researcher who died due to the impact. The Naples prosecutor’s office is investigating the case and, as the prefect Michele Di Bari assured, is “acting very quickly”. The objective shared by all law enforcement agencies is to “bring those responsible to justice as soon as possible”. Just after Sunday’s episode, a meeting of the committee for public order and safety was held late this morning which addressed the issue of safety at sea.
Cristina Frazzica was on a kayak last Sunday, in the waters off Villa Rosebery, in Posillipo, in the company of a friend. The vehicle apparently overturned after being hit by a boat. Frazzica died instantly, while the man who was with her remained unharmed. The woman, originally from Taurianova, in Reggino, lives in Voghera (Pavia), but had moved to Naples for some time to attend courses at an Academy of the Federico II University.
Meanwhile, the committee for public order and safety discussed today a new device for surveillance and control of the sea to be put in place to “avoid that tragedies like this can happen again,” said the prefect. A “more incisive synergy between the Port Authority, the air-naval operations department of the financial police and all the police forces on the ground” will be promoted so that there are “targeted, incisive controls”. “This stretch of sea – concluded Di Bari – is very popular andwe must avoid other tragedies“.
