ROME – Preparations are underway in Rome for the seventy-fourth Republic Day. For tomorrow’s event, Roman roads will undergo changes. The celebrations will take place in the area between Piazza Venezia and the Fori Imperiali. From tonight, parking bans and the first traffic closures will begin, others will begin from 5 am tomorrow morning. Public transport will also be affected: some buses will be suspended while some metro stations, such as the Colosseum, will be closed for a few hours. Here are all the changes to traffic reported on the Roma Mobility portal.

via del Plebiscito, via Magnanapoli, piazza Ara Coeli, piazza Madonna di Loreto and area of Trajan’s Forum, via dei Fornari, via di Sant’Eufemia, via Cesare Battisti, vicolo San Bernardo, piazza Venezia, largo Enrico Berlinguer, Piazza San Marco, via di San Venanzio, via di San Marco, via degli Astalli. Via dei Cerchi closed.

From 1.30pm the streets will gradually reopen,with the exception of via dei Fori Imperiali, which will remain closed all day for the usual holiday pedestrianization.
As regards public transport, from the start of service until around 1.30 pm on Sunday, the terminus of Piazza Venezia and Via del Teatro will be suspended Marcello and lines 3L, C3, H, 30, 44, 46, 60, 62, 63 will be diverted or limited in their routes. 64, 70, 80, 81, 83, 160, 170, 190F, 492, 628, 671, 714, 715, 716, 781, 792 and 916F. Line 40 will be suspended from the start of service until 1.30 pm. The lines 51, 75, 85, 87 and 118 (and in the night between Saturday and Sunday the nMB), for the festive pedestrianization of via dei Fori Imperiali, will be diverted to the whole day.
During the event the 3L trams will travel between Trastevere station and Piazzale Ostiense (without reaching Porta Maggiore); those of the 8 will be in service between Casaletto and Piazza Cairoli, without reaching Piazza Venezia. The lines 44, 715, 716 and 781 will be limited to Monte Savello, they will not reach the terminus of Teatro Marcello and Piazza Venezia; 46, 190F and 916F will stop in via Paola, without reaching piazza Venezia; 60 will be limited to Piazza dei Cinquecento, without reaching Piazza Venezia; 63, 80 and 83 will stop in Via Veneto, without reaching the terminus of Monte Savello, Piazza Venezia and Piazzale dei Partigiani. From 5.30am on Sunday the Police Headquarters also requested the closure of the Colosseum metro stop.
NO PARKING AT THE QUIRINALE TODAY AND TOMORROW
Via XXIV Maggio; piazza and via del Quirinale; via della Consulta and via Mazzarino. On the two days from around 1pm there will be limitations on the transit of scooters in via XXIV Maggio; piazza and via del Quirinale; via della Consulta and via Mazzarino. Possible closures, then, always on via XXIV Maggio, via Mazzarino, via and piazza del Quirinale, via della Dataria.
Also on June 2nd, from the morning until 2pm, the following will be closed to the public: Colosseum; archaeological areas of the Roman Forum and Palatine Forum; Shrine of the Flags at the Vittoriano; Panoramic terrace at the Vittoriano; Palazzo Venezia (public access is however permitted from 12pm, exclusively from the entrances on via del Plebiscito and via degli Astalli), archaeological area of the Imperial Forums and Traian Markets – Museum of the Imperial Forums.
