ROME – They range from checks of the levels of vulnerability of the real estate assets present in the restricted area of bradyseism, to anti-seismic strengthening interventions of schools and public infrastructures, and financial incentives are also provided for those who intend to move to more “quiet” areas. These are some of the measures being examined by the Meloni government on the Campi Flegrei, today on the summit table at Palazzo Chigi of the minister Nello Musumeci and, among others, the mayors of Naples, Pozzuoli and Bacoli.
“Today I wanted to meet the mayors and the vice-president of the Campania Region, together with the prefect of Naples and the heads of the Civil Protection Departmentand Casa Italia, to illustrate the plan of further measures being examined by the Meloni government on the Campi Flegrei, already anticipated in the press conference I held last Wednesday”. Thus the Minister for Civil Protection Nello Musumeci at the end of the meeting held today at Palazzo Chigi with the mayors of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, Pozzuoli, Luigi Manzoni< /strong>, and Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, the vice-president of the Campania Region, Fulvio Bonavitacola, and the prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari strong>.
THE MEASURES UNDER EXAMINATION BY THE GOVERNMENT
Musumeci summarizes the main interventions contained in the government plan as follows: “faster and more in-depth checks of the levels of vulnerability of the public and private real estate assets falling within the restricted area of bradyseism; interventions of >anti-seismic strengthening of strategic public infrastructures, starting with schools; contributions for the anti-seismic adaptation of private homes in high-risk areas, excluding buildings squatters and second homes; intensification of non-structural prevention, with information and exercises involving as many inhabitants as possible; financial incentives for families who intend to relocatefrom high-risk areas in areas outside the perimeter of bradyseismic and volcanic risk”. Finally, “ban on the construction of new housing units, until the Campania Region has legislated on the matter”.
These are “interventions – reiterates Musumeci – which follow on from those already planned from the decree law on the Campi Flegrei approved in October last year and currently being implemented. In the next few days, having verified the necessary overall financial resource and for the first interventions, I will bring the proposals to be examined by the Council of Ministers”.
