The father suffering from ALS skips his son’s wedding: the newlyweds in hospital after the wedding

Emotion at the NEMO Napoli center of the Monaldi Hospital. The video of the meeting goes viral

NAPLES –For 40 days in hospital due to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Giuseppe was unable to attend the wedding of his son, Vincenzo. So he and Francesca, the bride, went to visit him immediately after the yes. The video of the meeting, documented by the facility, went viral. It happened in Naples, at the NEMO center of the Monaldi hospital.

“Giuseppe – writes the hospital – has ALS and has been hospitalized at the NEMO Naples Center of the Monaldi Hospital for about 40 days. The long time needed to find a new balance in the course of the disease. But Giuseppe has a great desire as a father, to be at the side of Vincenzo, his son, on the day of his wedding to Francesca“.

“The wedding date was set a year ago, as soon as the father had been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, with the hope of being able to be present at the ceremony”, says the person who wrote the post.

THE MEETING AND THE HUG BETWEEN THE WEDDING PARTY AND THE DAD

“Vincenzo is very close to Giuseppe and, together with his brother Michele and mother Maria, they never leave him alone. They would never have thought of the most beautiful day without their father’s embrace. They therefore asked the medical management of the Monaldi hospital the possibility of meeting the father immediately after the ceremony, a few minutes to hug him. The authorization for the special visit was given without thinking twice and so, thanks to the complicity of all the healthcare personnel, of the psychologists and NeMO operators, Giuseppe was able to meet the two young people and was able to be close to the spouses“.

Father Alfredo, the hospital chaplain, thought of making the moment even more emotional, blessing the new family together with the very emotional father. And the miracle of love and life was renewed in father Giuseppe’s room at NeMO Napoli which makes us proud to work in a hospital that is increasingly able to accommodate patients and their families”.

The hospital then concludes: “Best wishes from the strategic management of the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli to this young married couple who has thrilled and moved us”.
