ROME – ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ will happen!
It’s been 18 years since Miranda Priestly, played by the extraordinary and unique Meryl Streep, entered our lives without asking permission. It was 2006 and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ arrived in cinemas, directed by David Frankel and based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger. The film tells the story of a young woman, Andrea (played by Anne Hathaway), a recent graduate looking for work. She has just arrived in New York and would like to be a journalist. So she decides to go to an interview for the coveted role of second assistant to Miranda Priestly (without knowing what she would be facing): the influential and tyrannical director of the fashion magazine Runway. Andy, however, does not have the slightest inclination for fashion, nor does he hide all his ignorance about it. “What you don’t know is that that sweater is not simply blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean“, Miranda says to Andrea in one scene (iconic, like the whole film).
Everything we loved about that film is about to return to the big screen. Disney is developing the sequel and is reportedly in talks with the screenwriter of the first chapter Aline Brosh McKenna to have her write the next one too . As Variety reports, it is unclear who from the original cast will return and the plot will follow Miranda dealing with the magazine crisis. But not only that. She will find herself facing the character of Emily Blunt (Miranda’s first assistant in the first film) now a powerful executive for a luxury group.
