The Chico Forti case in Le Iene: previews

ROME – The Chico Forti case in Le Iene, tomorrow in prime time on Italia 1 two new reports by Gaston Zama on Forti, returned to Italy after 24 years of detention in the United States for the life sentence for the murder of Dale Pike, which occurred on February 15, 1998 in Miami. Since then he has been locked up in a maximum security penitentiary, where he has never stopped shouting his innocence to the world.

The Gaston Zama investigation began in 2019 and retraced all the key moments of the story, both human and judicial, up to the phases that led to his return. The first report will show: the meeting between the author and Chico Forti inside the maximum security penitentiary in Miami and the following one with his children, Francesco and Jenna Blue, who currently live in Hawaii; the exclusive interviews carried out over the years with magistrates, lawyers, witnesses and the declarations of the political world that was interested in the matter (in 2020 the then Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio released important declarations to Gaston Zama regarding the news of the return to Italy of the our compatriot, ed.). Furthermore, the words of his uncle Gianni, his mother Maria and all the people closest to the Trentino entrepreneur who never stopped believing in his innocence. And again, the request for release made to the governor of Florida by Bradley Pike, the victim’s brother; the movement of opinion in Italy that asked for the review of the trial; the in-depth analysis of ‘The Smile of the Medusa’ (the documentary-investigation into the crime of Gianni Versace). finally, the exclusive testimony of Veronica Lee, one of the jurors who sentenced Forti to life imprisonment.

In the second report, an in-depth analysis of how, especially in recent days, part of the information on the case has moved: criticizing the welcome given by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the condemned man at the military airport of Pratica di Mare or calling the man a ‘murderer’.
