The Carabinieri-Philip Morris memorandum of understanding is renewed to promote the culture of legality
The agreement, lasting three years, provides for training and information activities
ROME – The Carabinieri and Philip Morris Italy have announced that they have renewed their collaboration, already established in 2022, with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement, lasting three years, provides for training and information activities aimed at the common objective of supporting and promoting the diffusion of the culture of legality among the managers of Italian tobacconists.
The main areas of collaboration envisaged by the agreement concern the organization of conferences, conventions, seminars and training and information events on the prevention and fight against theft and robberies. Awareness-raising activities are also included in relation to crimes such as extortion and usury as well as current issues such as the protection of the environment and biodiversity.

The agreement finds its reasons in the historic partnership between Philip Morris Italia and the managers of tobacconists, for whom the multinational organizes training events focused on the in-depth study of issues related to professional activity, and in the awareness of the high risk of suffering criminal actions by this type of public establishment.
As stated in the Protocol, even outside the cases identified in the text, in the presence of converging institutional interests and the possibility of developing further synergies, the parties to the agreement reserve the right to regulate new forms of collaboration through the signing of new specific agreements in order to pursue and realize the interest of the community.
