REGGIO EMILIA – Bad adventure for 21 priests and nuns who, coming from Switzerland, were going on a pilgrimage to Assisi. Late yesterday afternoon the bus they were traveling on lost one of its rear wheels due to a fault at kilometer 124 of the A1 (southbound) near the municipality of Campegine in the province of Reggio Emilia. The driver managed to avoid the vehicle from overturning, finally blocking it on the first lane of the motorway, thus preserving the safety of passengers and without causing collisions with third-party vehicles.
Shortly afterwards, the operators of the Reggio Emilia traffic police intervened and, first of all, arranged the appropriate road signs to protect vehicles in transit. They later called roadside assistance to remove the broken-down bus, which was no longer running and could not be repaired. Finally, several taxis were sent to the scene which transported the clergymen to Reggio, who then left for Assisi in the evening, on a second bus that arrived in the city.
