ROME – From vitamin D to telemedicine, from pregnancy to the warning signs of immunodeficiencies, from recurrent respiratory infections to the judicious use of antibiotics, from headaches to fever and pain, from respect for the environment to the gynecology booklet ‘Ask me’, a text that analyses issues intended for adolescents and parents, giving them correct answers also through scientific video pills. Without forgetting the therapy with monoclonal antibodies for the prevention of bronchiolitis, i.e. respiratory syncytial virus infections, allergies to cow’s milk proteins, weaning, the timing of potentially allergenic foods to be introduced into the child’s diet and the flu vaccination, because the flu is not a trivial disease. This and more was discussed in recent days in Naples on the occasion of the 11th Sipps conference entitled ‘Napule is… Preventive and Social Paediatrics’. The event brought together at the Royal Continental Hotel in the Campania capital over 200 paediatricians, but also psychologists, surgeons, nurses, pediatric nurses, dentists and dieticians, who discussed the many issues concerning the health of the little ones.
The president of the Italian Society of Preventive and Social Paediatrics, Giuseppe Di Mauro, was extremely satisfied: “The congress went extremely well – he explains to the Dire agency – and reached a very high scientific level thanks to the numerous colleagues who took part part. In Naples there was widespread participation and a great discussion among the professionals. We also sent very strong and very important messages, arising from the recommendations of the Consensus and the Guides that we presented”. “The task of a scientific society – recalls Di Mauro – is in fact to produce scientific documents but Sipps does more, even during the conferences that take place during the year: we, in fact, implement the recommendations. < /strong>And the ‘Napule è…Preventive and Social Paediatrics’ event truly represented a training ground for this implementation, after months of work, they paid off”.
“The most difficult thing – underlines Di Mauro – is to change a person’s beliefs and work routine, especially that of a paediatrician, of a doctor. I truly believe that Sipps, also thanks to events such as the one in Naples, with the presentation of numerous scientific documents, we are succeeding. All this repays us for the efforts made in favor of the entire Italian pediatric community”. “Our intent – concludes the number one of the Italian Society of Preventive and Social Paediatrics – is precisely to improve the training of paediatricians and our documents serve precisely to protect the children and families of our country” . The Sipps paediatricians will meet again from 5 to 7 July in Florence on the occasion of the XXXVI National Congress entitled ‘Preventive and social paediatrics: the planet of the new generations’.
